Macao’s chief executive election nomination period set for Aug. 29-Sept. 12

MACAO, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) — The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) announced on Friday that nomination period for candidates in the upcoming Macao chief executive election will be from Aug. 29 to Sept. 12.
The commission also published the “Chief Executive Election Schedule” on official election website. Individuals interested in running for the position or their representatives may collect election nomination form from the commission and submit it within the nomination period.
According to the Chief Executive Election Law, any candidate must be nominated by at least 66 members of the Chief Executive Election Committee through a jointly signed nomination form.
An executive order published on Monday designated Oct. 13 as election day for the new-term chief executive of the Macao SAR. ■
