Live: A bronze for kitefoiler Max Maeder, Singapore’s first Olympic medallist in 8 years

SINGAPORE: Kitefoiler Maximilian Maeder won a bronze for Singapore at the Paris Games, making history as the country’s youngest Olympic medallist.
The 17-year-old world champion ended Singapore’s eight-year wait for a medal, after swimmer Joseph Schooling won the country’s first and only gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
He told reporters at the Marseille Marina that he had his sights on a “beautiful birthday present” for Singapore – coinciding with the country’s 59th National Day.
